In VLMV's own words:
"I’ve always been fascinated by interpretations of music. There’s something in finding meaning within someone else’s music that makes it even more personal, somehow creating ownership out of it. Even if it’s not what the original artist intended, it becomes yours because it’s spoken to you on another level - or merely you’ve found a voice within it.
Having my music reworked and reinterpreted is something I’ve done before - on the first album ‘ALMA’, so I was very keen to do this again - but with artists who I hadn’t worked with before. This time around I approached specific artists that I’m a huge fan of, who I hadn’t worked with before, with no specific brief aside from the one note I had - to be mindful of nature.
The only specific brief was with Sim Walker. His piano playing is so storytelling that I asked him to completely rework Flora’s main melody and reinterpret it for piano… And I’m delighted with how it turned out! A lot of sequenced electronic parts in my music are written firstly on the piano, and end up as a synth sequence via various synths, effects and the modular rig - so I was very excited to see it come back full circle, but in a sort of Chinese whispers way.
Allenheimer Fungal suggested his own brief, which was to use elements from each of the 6 tracks to create one overarching rework of the whole album. I love this idea, and it ends the EP perfectly for me, going full circle."
